(Hello!, I hope this story is in the right place. I hope to get to see alot of good stories here. This is taken from a log from Nautalus, who enjoys studying the instances and places of WoW))
"Amazing, the world seems so fun and interesting, I cant wait to explore it myself one day", I blurted excitedly.
The old dwarf layed down his stick and gave me a solid stare.
"Oh yes it IS an amazing and wonderful place. But fur every good place there is another that tis much more sinister...be mindfull where you tread young night elf"
"Only now I understand what he meant"
Journal Log - My theories of the past of Scholomance -1st Entry
Scholomance, from the outside, it appears just the same as every other human-made ruin situated in the plaguelands. Dark walls surrounding it, dwellings that may have housed servants burnt to ashes. But it seems strange. It is much different from the other undead ravaged ruins that cover this land.
The cannons on the battlements lay unfired. Closer inspection reveals no trace of gunpowder. From a fortress that would have seen the first armies of the scourge, it is strange. It speaks of betrayal from within.
Apon entering the cold and dark confines of its walls. My theories began to gain more evidence. The biggest and most frightening being, a small ring of skeletons that appear to have been children. Sitting in a circle within the library, most likely waiting to hear a story from the expansive selection of books available. Death must have been swift and unexpected for them to not have moved from these positions.
This is proof enough that the betrayal and destruction came from within the castle walls.
Journal Log - The Reasons behind the destruction - 2nd Entry
Continued raids apon the establishment of Scholomance slowely revealed the reasons behind the death that came.
The castle seems to have been converted into a training and research facility of the undead scourge. It seems only recently established, for many of the acolytes within were still learning. Some students observed appeared the lack the ability the summon strong skeletons that mimiced the guards encountered. The ones summoned were exceedingly frail, smashing easily to sword and mace.
Deeper within the facility, were many forms of experiments. Undead dragons, under the watchful gaze of trainers, were luckily still only whelps. The thought of one of these abominations growing to the size of Onyxia was scary indeed. The shock didnt end there. For in the cellar below that room housed a small battalion of skeletal constructs. Blades for arms and bodies assembled out of various bones, they struck hard and fast. Possible shock troops for future invasions.
The abominations didnt end there. Undead ghouls that left a rotting plague where they fell, living humanoids that once killed burst forth a shade that was immune to physical attacks that continued the assault of its once living version.
I can only hope that these creatures will never see the light of day.
Journal Log - The currents that drive it - 3rd Log
All the observations above did not answer the main question. Why was this fortified castle destroyed from the inside.
My answers lied with the owners of the establishment, the Barov family.
I have no respect for nobles, most are only concerned about their property. This one was the same. Wailing about how his brother intended to steal the deeds to the land, even though the land spoken of was nothing but rotting ground. He even demanded that I find the deeds and bring them back to him. Which I plainly refused. But what he said regarding his brother was worth more than any land.
History tells of many noble humans giving their souls to the dark taint. The most notable one, may his soul and hide be burned to ash, was Arthus. I would assume that the Barov family was the same. Lured by power, immortality, the promise of sharing the spoils of conquest. It wouldnt be a surprise if this family embraced it.
Leading an attack from the inside, it must have been they who destroyed their own hold and killed their own people. Much like Arthus did.
This ends my exploration of Scholomance. Another sign of how nobles are easily corrupted...
